About Us
Our driving school is based in Lakewood, New Jersey. However, we service Ocean and Monmouth County NJ. All of our vehicles are both reliable and safe. Additionally, since we use small sized vehicles, our students find our cars to be the perfect vehicle in which to learn how to drive. All of our vehicles are equipped with a dual braking system (a brake for the student, and a brake for the instructor) to ensure that the student will be both comfortable and safe. We are fullt insured and bonded. All of our instructors are patient, experienced, and are specially licensed by the state of New Jersey MVC (DMV). At Skillful Driving School you will receive quality training at a very reasonable price.

Nervous drivers? Not a problem! We can help you achieve your dream of driving on the road with complete confidence. We will take you out on the road one step at a time. By the time you are finished, you will be completely at ease, on any road, any time of day! We make maneuvers such as kturns and parallel park EASY! Each and every student is important to us. You will be treated with respect, and will be given our full attention for all of your needs. Included in our standard training are techniques and methods needed to pass the road test, as well as tips and techniques for practical situations, such as parking in a shopping mall, highway driving etc..

We gladly provide service to all of Ocean County and most parts of Monmouth County NJ. In many areas, we do not have any requirement for a minimum number of hours.

Our Services Include:

Permit Test
Transportation to and from the NJ MVC (DMV) for the written (permit) test. Group rates are available.

16 Year Old Program
There are two different 16 year old programs, dependent on your situation.

With a blue card from school: The "blue card" is a card given to a student by their teacher after they have passed their written exam in school. The exam is given through a driver's education program provided by the school.

Without a blue card from school: The student will have to take the written permit exam at the DMV. For help in preparing for the written test, give us a call, or click here.
Road Test
Transportation to and from the road test, and the use of our company vehicle for your test. There are a few advantages to using us for your road test. First of all, if you have taken lessons with us, you will already be comfortable driving our vehicles. Additionally, going with your instructor will instill confidence, and will allow him/her to give you some helpful last minute tips. We also give a 5-10 minute practice session before taking you to the road test. We will BRUSH UP on kturns and parallel parking. Lastly, all of our vehicles are up to date on insurance, registration and inspection. Additionally, all of our vehicles are equipped with a dual control braking system, thus making the brakes accessible to the examiner (one of the criteria of taking your road test).
Door To Door Service
To or from your office, home or school.
Highway Instruction
We will take you on a major highway. Included in this lesson we will teach you: merging (acceleration lane), lane changing, speed control and steering at higher speeds, signs and road markers, and leaving the highway (deceleration lanes).
Refresher Course
Whether you need a refresher course to brush up for your road test, or you would like to perfect your driving in general, we can help. Our knowledgeable, experienced and friendly instructors will give you the confidence you need.

Senior Driver Program
Our patient instructors will get you safely on the road, whether you have driven before or not. All seniors receive $2 off the standard rate for each lesson.
